¿Qué es el CIPSHI?
El Comité institucional para la protección de los seres humanos en la investigación (Cipshi) es el comité institucional de revisión o Institutional Review Board, (IRB) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras.
La misión del Cipshi es salvaguardar los derechos y el bienestar de los seres humanos que participen como sujetos en las investigaciones del Recinto.
El Cipshi revisa y autoriza los protocolos de investigaciones con participantes humanos como sujetos de estudio y mantiene a la comunidad universitaria informada acerca de las reglamentaciones y los aspectos éticos que conciernen a estas investigaciones. Este comité tiene la responsabilidad de velar que en los proyectos de investigación se garanticen la voluntariedad y la intimidad del individuo y se minimicen los riesgos de daño físico, mental, emocional, social, económico y legal, entre otros. Además, el Cipshi evalúa y contrapone los posibles riesgos a los beneficios esperados de la investigación.
